Successful Collection from Corporate Bank Account after Order to Show Cause Denied
April 2015
We represented a professional engineer seeking to recover damages for nonpayment of professional fees from a New York personal injury law firm.
We obtained a default judgment against the law firm and froze their bank account. The corporate defendant brought an order to show cause to vacate the judgment and lift the freeze on the bank account. We argued that the law firm defendant failed to show that it had a reasonable excuse for not answering the complaint or that it had a meritorious defense to the action.
After the Order was issued by the Court, we quickly collected our client's judgment in full.
